The Bermuda Dance Company

Gombey Dancing

The colourful tradition of Gombey Dancing dates back to the mid-1700s, melding the roots and cultural influences of slaves brought to Bermuda. Derived from the African word meaning “drum,” Gombey also incorporates Native American and British colonial influences of the New World.

You may see Gombey events and performances throughout the year. The dancers traditionally wind through our streets on special holidays such as Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

In Motion School of Dance

The In Motion School of Dance has dedicated itself to providing the highest level of dance instruction available, with fully qualified teachers and local and overseas workshops held by professional instructors.

In Motion’s in-house ensemble company, “Concepts in Motion,” brings cutting-edge choreography and our island’s foremost dancers and choreographers to the stage, in their annual company show.

Steel Pan Music

With roots in Trinidad and Tobago in the late 1930s, steel pan music blends Caribbean, African and European cultures.
