The World Heritage Visitors Centre, Penno's Wharf, Town of St. George
The World Heritage Visitors Centre, developed and restored under the auspices of The St. George's Foundation, is well underway.
The Centre will be located in the Queen's Warehouse, circa 1860, at Penno's Wharf, St. George's. Located at the gateway to the Town of St. George, the Centre will be a key orientation and educational resource point for students, residents and visitors of all ages.
It will offer lively, interactive histories of the old Town told through state of the art technology, through participatory talks, tours and historical re-enactments and through an ongoing programme of dramatic presentations, cultural activities and special events. The Centre and its activities will bring the history of St. George's and of Bermuda's people vividly to life.
The Centre will feature permanent and changing exhibits as will as a Theatre, which will present a brief film about the colourful history of St. George's. The first Orientation and Exhibits Gallery showcasing several hundred years of Bermuda's history will be open at the end of June 2006.
These exhibits will provide learning opportunities about Bermuda's history and heritage and stimulate visitation to many cultural attractions within the Town of St. George, as well as throughout Bermuda. It will be a great place to begin your visit.
